Excessive Sweating
Sweating is our body’s normal mechanism to cool itself. But in some people, this system works in overdrive –producing more sweat than is needed. It’s called hyperhidrosis and it affects approximately 3% of people. While harmless, if you are experiencing this, you’re understandably embarrassed and perplexed. Good news, you don’t have to be.
Imagine your days, without the sweat
While a medical condition can be the underlying cause of hyperhidrosis, in most cases, it starts during adolescence. Stress and anxiety make it worse, further eliciting the body’s sweating response. This can lead to skin conditions and impact the quality of your daily life.
You don’t have to walk around preoccupied with sweat stains. Through a systematic evaluation of your triggers, followed by staged treatments, you can free yourself from this frustrating disorder.
Injections are used to stop the sympathetic nerves from stimulating the sweat glands. The results last between three to six months, with minimal side effects. You might experience minor localised pain and compensatory sweating in other parts of the body.
Anti sweating injections are most often used in armpits. For hyperhidrosis treatment of the palms and soles, a local anaesthetic is generally required. A temporary weakness of the hand muscles may occur.
If sweat stains, smelly feet or ‘wet’ hands are stopping you from experiencing joy, you don’t have to live with this.
